Find the Sound is an animated short that follows the journey of a sound designer who, feeling disillusioned and financially strained, begins to lose hope in his career. As he packs up his belongings to leave his studio, he discovers a cassette tape that holds a message from his teacher, recorded 15 years earlier. This message sparks a pivotal moment of reflection, reigniting his passion for sound design and reminding him of the commitment he once made to himself.
The central theme of this animation revolves around the idea of “lost and found.” The "lost" represents the sound designer’s lost sense of direction and self-commitment over the years, while the "found" embodies the rediscovery of his passion through the cassette tape and the reconnection to his craft.
This project was completed in April 2020, and I had the opportunity to contribute both to the animation and sound design aspects. The 9-minute animation was created using Photoshop for the drawings and After Effects for the animation. For the sound design, I used Pro Tools to craft a rich auditory experience that complements the emotional and narrative progression of the story, enhancing the journey from despair to rediscovery. Through this project, I explored the integration of visual and sound elements to evoke emotion and convey the transformation of the protagonist.
