《我係SUPERHERO》 (I Am a Superhero) is a 20-minute documentary that chronicles the inspiring journey of Kansas, a 4-year-old boy diagnosed with a congenital heart defect at birth in 2017. The documentary provides an intimate look into Kansas’s daily struggles as he battles the illness, showcasing both his resilience and the unwavering support of his family. Throughout the film, Kansas’s father uses superhero stories as a means of motivation, helping his son approach his health challenges with a positive mindset, drawing parallels between Kansas’s fight and the bravery of the superheroes in the stories.
I contributed to the visual aspects of the documentary by creating graphics in Adobe Photoshop and After Effects. These animations were used to bring to life the superhero themes, adding an imaginative and emotional layer to Kansas’s journey, and reinforcing the strength and courage he embodies through the metaphor of the superhero narrative. This project, completed in November 2020, not only tells a heartfelt story but also highlights the power of storytelling in helping children cope with challenging circumstances.
